Re-Envisioning, Revising, and Re-Inspiring

Re-Envisioning, Revising, and Re-Inspiring: Why Mira’s KidLit Journey Matters for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity

Hullo friends of Kathy Temean, I’m excited to announce that after 36 years in the kidlit field and having hopefully helped many students, I’m finally at that stage where I’ve set a date to retire in March. So, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of two new memberships at the Children’s Book Academy: the Ruby and Diamond KidLit Makers Clubs. https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/join-the-club.html These clubs are more than just a culmination of my life’s work; they’re a re-envisioning of what it means to craft stories and art for children and a joyful chance to connect and directly help students one last time. This program is literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with TONS OF RESOURCES & OPPORTUNITIES plus a whole year of access. How did we get here? Keep reading…

Re-envisioning: Crafting My Own World

From the streets of East Preston, Australia, known as “Little Chicago”, to the bright lights of America, my journey through KidLit has been one of unexpected twists and turns. Growing up in Australia, I was brought up in a rough working-class suburb, but was fortunate to have a mother who nurtured my creativity. With art supplies, books, and endless encouragement, she instilled in me the belief that I could create my own beautiful world.

Fast forward through years of academic pursuit, culminating in a PhD focused on KidLit, I found myself creating the Children’s Book Academy with these three key themes: nurturing students in a fun environment, comprehensively educating them, and providing them lots of wonderful publishing opportunities. And so far, these principles have paid off with my former hard-working students publishing over 1,450 books and winning just about every major Kidlit award. Bravo students!

Revising: Shaping Stories, Shaping Lives

The heart of our new KidLit Maker’s Clubs lies in an extraordinary series of interactive workshop webinars. Through these sessions, students will not only learn the intricacies of KidLit but will also have the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge into practice. From breakout sessions to professional feedback with industry experts, every step of the creative process is guided with care and expertise.

For Diamond Club members, the journey goes even further. With access to exclusive live courses co-taught by acquiring industry experts, live gentle critiquing webinars, workshops, and the chance to contribute to a collaborative anthology, the path to publication becomes clearer than ever before. With agents, editors, art directors, publishers, and other experts on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide submission opportunities, your dreams of seeing your work in print are closer than ever.

Re-inspiring: Building Community, Building Dreams

There’s truly nothing like this, and there won’t be again (especially for this price). Beyond the workshops and webinars lies the beating heart of the KidLit Makers Clubs: https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/join-the-club.html our vibrant, supportive community. In our Clubhouse rooms, Diamond members get to ask direct questions of editors, agents, publishers, and art directors, gather to share ideas, offer feedback, celebrate each other’s successes, and receive a free half-hour Zoom critique with me. Ruby https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/ruby-club.html members get to interact in the live workshopping webinars and gather to share ideas, offer feedback, and celebrate each other’s successes in their own Club rooms. Here in all of these rooms, creativity knows no bounds, and dreams take flight with the support of fellow makers.

As I embark on this final chapter of my career, I’m filled with excitement for what lies ahead. The Ruby and Diamond KidLit Makers Clubs represent not only a chance to pass on over 36 years of hard-earned knowledge, but also an opportunity to inspire a new generation of storytellers. And if you are short on money, don’t worry, we have adjustable payment plans and scholarships. https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/club-scholarships.html

Join me on this journey https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/join-the-club.html (by May 1st for an awesome Early Bird Bonus), and together, let’s craft a world where children’s books are more than just stories – they’re beacons of hope, joy, and imagination.

With all the Creative Love,

Dr. Mira Reisberg (The KidLit Whisperer)

  1. So I only get access to agents and publishers with the Diamond membership? Joan Ramirez author

    • Unfortunately, you only get to submit your work to agents, editors, and publishers through the Diamond membership as that’s much more intensive and we have to pay all of these people. However, you do get to interact with them at the Ruby level, which is much more inexpensive as we pay less for this. We do have scholarships for all sorts of people here and have given away hundreds over the years, so you might want to look at that. https://www.childrensbookacademy.com/club-scholarships.html
