Book Giveaway: Oink-Oink! Moo! Cock-a-Doodle-Doo! by Jennifer Sattler

Jennifer Sattler has written and Illustrated a new board book titled, Oink-Oink! Moo! Cock-a-Doodle-Doo!. Published by Sleeping Bear Press.  Jennifer has agreed to share a copy with one lucky winner. All you have to do to get in the running is to leave a comment. Reblog, tweet, or talk about it on Facebook with a link and you will get additional chances to win. Just let me know the other things you do to share the good news, so I can put in the right amount of tickets in my basket for you.

Sharing on Facebook, Twitter, reblogging really helps spread the word for a new book. Thanks for helping Jennifer!

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Who says oink and who says moo? Nine animals, including a bike-riding dog, a book-loving mouse, and a dancing pig, introduce animal sounds for little readers. Noisy fun for everyone! In this new board book series, little readers will learn sounds, colors, counting, and other concepts with a cast of kooky characters. This is the fourth entry in the Jennifer Sattler board book series.

BOOK’S JOURNEY:

I love the paired down, “cut to the chase” simplicity of board books. When Sleeping Bear Press came to me about my own brand of board books I was so excited. To this day, I think one of the funniest books for children and old children (…like children in their 50’s) is Hippos Go Beserk by Sandra Boynton. She is my hero.

So after “Dirty Birdies”, a counting book, “Jungle Gym” a book of opposites and “Bundle Up!” A color book, I wanted to do a book about animal sounds. So, yes, a sheep says “Baaa ”… but it even says it when it’s singing. And a dog does say “Woof ”…even when it’s riding a bike.

Anyone who’s spent a lot of time reading to little ones knows that silly images help any lesson “stick”. And I get to draw a frog in a shower cap taking a bubble bath.

JENNIFER’S BIO:

Jennifer Sattler is the award-winning author and illustrator of numerous children’s books, including the new board books Dirty Birdies and Jungle Gym, as well as the picture book Sylvie, and the Pig Kahuna and the Chick ’n’ Pug series. She lives in upstate New York, where she delights in embarrassing her children and having meaningful conversations with her dog, Henry.

She didn’t always want to be an author and illustrator. When she was in third grade her teacher, Teacher Marty, mentioned that she was 40 and had never had a cavity. Jennifer thought that Teacher Marty was “ the bees knees” so she decided that she would be a dentist when she grew up and vowed never to have a cavity.

Jennifer went on to become an artist. She pretended to be a grown up for several years, teaching college students how to paint and draw. But when her kids were born, her inner goofball could be contained no longer!  Her passion was making kids laugh and making picture books.

She’s not a dentist. But… still no cavities! Learn more about her at jennifersattlerbooks.com.

Jennifer, thank you for sharing your book and journey with us. This is a very cute board book – one that parents will be reading over and over again to their child.

Talk tomorrow,

Kathy
