Elizabeth Bewley
Sterling Lord Literistic
I am looking for literary YA and MG fiction, upmarket commercial YA and MG fiction, YA memoir, and YA and MG narrative nonfiction. I particularly enjoy realistic contemporary stories, stories with unusual structures, smart suspense, love stories, novels set in the ancient world and/or that center on Greek mythology, stories with elements of magic, fantasy grounded in a real world, novels inspired by classics, particularly American classics, and books that give readers an inside take on a little known world. Please see the Sterling Lord Literistic website (www.sll.com) for instructions on how to submit to me. Please note that due to the high volume of queries, I will only respond when I am interested in a project.
About me:
Elizabeth Bewley represents young adult and middle grade fiction and nonfiction. After graduating from Northwestern University in 2002, Elizabeth got her first job as an editorial assistant at St. Martin’s Press. She then went on to hold editorial jobs at HarperCollins, Intervisual Books, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers, where she was an Executive Editor. Elizabeth has worked with bestselling and award-winning authors including Jennifer E. Smith, Estelle Laure, Claire LaZebnik, Linda Williams Jackson, Ashley Herring Blake, Sophie Flack, Kass Morgan, Josh Sundquist, Alyson Noël, and Nic Sheff, amongst others. She joined Sterling Lord Literistic in 2017, and she has an affinity for upmarket commercial fiction and accessible nonfiction that illuminates real world issues for young readers. Elizabeth loves books that: start a conversation; explore friendship in all its messy glory; capture the feeling of first love; open eyes to little-know worlds or situations. She would also like to represent memoirs geared towards young readers. She enjoys working closely with authors on each and every stage of the publication process.
Fun facts about me:I love tiny things! I would be really excited to find a new novel about tiny people (a la the Borrowers) or tiny garden fairies or elves. The idea of secret little worlds has always fascinated me. I grew up in Memphis and would love to represent great Southern fiction. I love books that have strong hooks and authors that deliver stories that readers want to share with their friends.
