Cindy Uh (Senior Agent) at Thompson Literary grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College with a degree in Communications and a minor in Faith, Peace, and Justice. She received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law where she was the Editor in Chief of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal. After practicing law for six years, she left the world of litigation behind to pursue her lifelong love of books, getting her start in publishing as an intern at the Einstein Thompson Agency before joining TLA. Cindy is a member of SCBWI and on the Advisory Board of First Book Manhattan. She is excited to continue developing talent in both fiction and nonfiction with a particular interest in children’s books. In Childrens’, Cindy is accepting picture book, middle grade and YA submissions, including nonfiction queries. She loves compelling characters and distinct voices, and more diversity (of all types) is always welcome!
Cindy represents a wide range of nonfiction and select children’s fiction and nonfiction. As a former (and fully recovered) lawyer, she brings a hands-on editorial approach to each project while thinking about how a project fits into an author’s long-term career. Since becoming a literary agent in 2015, she’s represented clients such as Mari Andrew, Bridget Beth Collins, Brent Preston, John Donohue, Evan Rice, Shelly Westerhausen, Shiva Rose, Timothy Joy, Kristin Russell, and many others. She is actively building her list and is always on the lookout for new voices, fresh perspectives, and diversity across the board.
