I chose Cathy Gendron’s fun illustration, “Polka and Peas” dancers and band to help celebrate the book winner and the publishing industry promotions. Cathy was featured in 2015 on Illustrator Saturday. Here’s the link.

Liz Parker has joined Los Angeles-based talent agency Verve, to lead the launch of a new publishing division there. Parker will represent authors as well as “helping source intellectual property for clients looking to develop.” The company said in a statement, “When she told us that her guiding principle is to ‘make unheard voices heard,’ we knew we had found someone who shares both our personal and our professional values. Liz’s addition will allow us to represent new kinds of people and stories and gives us yet another means to bring those stories out into the world.”

Parker has been an agent at Inkwell Management, prior to which she was publishing director at Counterpoint and Soft Skull Press, and a scout at Maria Campbell Associates.

Jennifer Levesque will join Disney Book Group as editorial director starting May 7. She was previously vp, editorial director of Rodale Books.

At Chronicle Books, Rachel Hiles has been promoted to editor, food & lifestyle; Daria Harper has been promoted to assistant editor, children’s; Mike Conway has been promoted to executive director of IT; and Sarah Van Cleave, formerly an intern with Yale University Press, has joined as executive assistant.

Laura Costello has been promoted to assistant editor for Sourcebooks Casablanca.

Elizabeth Stranahan has been promoted to assistant editor at Crown Children’s.

Mike Nardullo joins Foundry Literary + Media today as foreign rights director today.

Victoria Wells Arms is joining Hannigan Salky Getzler Agency as of May 1, bringing her clients over from Wells Arms Literary.
