Agent Looking for Clients

Linsey MealingLindsay Mealy is a Junior Agent at Emerald City Literary who is building her list. She represents science fiction, fantasy and YA novels.

Linsay has been writing stories since she could first hold a pencil. It wasn’t until she sat down to edit a manuscript for the first time she realized her true love was not on the writing side of the publishing industry, but the business side. She began interning for Mandy in early 2015 and quickly realized agenting was what she wanted to do forever more.

Lindsay is a self-proclaimed  nerd, loving everything science fiction and fantasy – from epic tomes to gaming. She fell head over heels with the SFF genre when she read KUSHIEL’S DART by Jacqueline Carey (she even has Phedre’s marque tattooed on her back).

You can find Lindsay on Twitter @lindsaymealing.

Query guidelines: Send your query letter to querylindsay@emeraldcityliterary.com. Please paste the first five pages of your manuscript below your query.

**If you queried me at Mandy Hubbard’s inbox, there is no need to requery. All queries sent there will be forwarded to my new inbox and read and responded to.**

Please Note: If your manuscript is over 100k words, I will likely ask for a synopsis along with the full request.

Lindsay’s wish list:

  • intrigue, espionage, politics – think fantasy TUDORS
  • dark  fantasy
  • space opera
  • epic sci-fi/fantasy with huge stakes and strong world building
  • urban fantasy with a fresh, unqiue feel (no paranormal romance, no vampires or werewolves)
  • morally grey stories and characters
  • gothic horror
  • near-future sci-fi
  • beautiful literary stories that will make me cry
  • dark, twisty contemporary YA
  • anti-heroes/heroines
  • fantasy romance

Emerald City Literary represents picture books, middle grade, young adult, children’s nonfiction, romance, and science fiction & fantasy. We welcome submissions about LGBTQ themes and diverse characters and by traditionally underrepresented authors.

Talk tomorrow,

Kathy
