The Spinelli’s – Sassi – Books & Book Trailers

Most people think Middle Grade and Young Adult Books when they hear Newbery Award-winning author Jerry Spinelli’s name, but Jerry also writes picture books. This book is his third PB. I have read it and it is certainly worthy of joining Jerry’s other award winning books. It has a sweet lyrical text and is illustrated New York Times bestselling illustrator LeUyen Pham’s charming illustrations show the timeless love between a mother and her children.

When Mama Seeton whistles, her children run home for chocolate cake, hugs, kisses, and shared memories. But as time passes, they travel farther and farther away from the familiar sound. Can mama’s whistle be heard all over the world, and bring her children home one more time?

BIO: Laura Sassi has a passion for telling stories in prose and rhyme. Her poems, stories, articles and crafts have appeared in numerous family publications including Highlights for Children, Cricket, Ladybug, Spider, Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr. and FamilyFun. She is the author of two picture books, GOODNIGHT, MANGER (Zonderkidz 2015) and GOODNIGHT, ARK (Zonderkidz, 2014). She lives in New Jersey with her husband, two children, and a black Cockapoo named Sophie. She is represented by Lara Perkins of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.
