Andersen Press

andersen Press

Andersen Press is a specialist children’s publisher. We publish picture books, for which the required text would be approximately 500 words (maximum 1000), juvenile fiction for which the text would be approximately 3-5000 words and older fiction up to 75,000 words.

We do not publish adult fiction, non-fiction, poetry or short story anthologies.

Please send all submissions on paper, by regular post, along with a stamped, addressed envelope. Please note that your work will be recycled if you do not enclose an envelope and sufficient postage for its return. We do not accept International Reply Coupons.

All picture book submissions and illustration submissions should be addressed to:

The Picture Book Submissions Department
Andersen Press Ltd
20 Vauxhall Bridge Road
London
SW1V 2SA

When sending both illustrations and text, please send photocopied examples of artwork or sketches, plus a synopsis and the full text.  DO NOT post originals, as any losses cannot be accounted for.  Alternatively you can submit text or illustrations on their own.

All juvenile and older fiction submissions should be addressed to:

The Fiction Submissions Department
Andersen Press Ltd
20 Vauxhall Bridge Road
London
SW1V 2SA

Please send only a synopsis and the first three chapters.

Please do not send submissions via email.

We try to read all submissions as quickly as possible, but due to the very large number we receive every week we are unable to enter into personal correspondence or give editorial guidance on the material we reject. We try to respond within two months, but there will be times when this isn’t possible. We will respond to every submission we receive.:

Andersen Press is one of UK’s foremost independent children’s book publishers, creating internationally famous picture books and a range of prize-winning fiction for young adults.
