beeThe other week I talked about looking for anthologies where you could send in your writing (and illustrating) in hopes of getting your story included in the book. So when I found this anthology, I thought I would point it out to you.

The anthology is put out by Wicwas Press. Wicwas Press LLC is a specialty publisher focusing on honey bees and beekeeping, but this anthology is a gathering of fiction, non-fiction, and poems.

Wicwas Press, a professional publisher of beekeeping books and fiction titles, is sponsoring a free Anthology Contest to curate stories for a forthcoming anthology.

Writers can submit up to three nonfiction essays or fiction stories of up to 1500 words each. If submitting poetry, keep page length under three pages.

First Place: The writer of the best bee-themed story will win a cash prize of $500;

Second-place will win $300;

Third-place will win $200. The judges are accepting personal beekeeping stories about honey bees or beekeeping. The judges look forward to entries that explore new originalities and traditional approaches showcased in a new way. Finalists and honorable mentions will appear in the anthology.

Submissions must be received by Deadline: 03-01-2015. Please send submissions to:

Email (Word or Pages file, not PDF):

Include the Subject Line “2015 Anthology”

  2. You know, I have an autographed copy of Maniac MdGee that I got at a NY SCBWI event back in the 90s. I bought it for my son and haven’t been able to find it whenever I’ve looked. He didn’t take any of that stuff with him and I have the nasty feeling it’s in the attic! I DO want to read it and may just have to get it from the library at some point.

    Also, maybe since Chris has been at our events, I was always under the impression she lived in Jersey or NY! lol I’m sure the Florida event is enjoyable and successful 🙂
