Publishing Industry Kudos

bookblogTina Overman’s new book YOGI’s Team was published on September 19th. You can find it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. If you read the cover, you will see my name, Kathy Temean as illustrator. “You Are My Cupcake” Joyce Wan signed contract to illustrate three new picture books: PUG & PIG by Sue Gallion (winner of the 2013 Promising Picture Book Award at LA-SCBWI) to be published by Beach Lane Books/S&S in Fall 2015 and two picture books featuring two of the cutest new chicks in children’s books, PEEP & EGG, by Laura Gehl to be published by FSG/Macmillian in Winter and Spring 2016.

Darlene Beck-Jacobson receives two book blurb endorsements for her book titled, “Wheel of Change” coming out in 2014. Here they are: 

“Sparkling writing, meticulous research, and a brave, bright girl who learns which changes in her world truly matter.” Joanne Rocklin  MG award-winning author (THE FIVE LIVES OF OUR CAT ZOOK).

Laurie Wallmark, previous Assistant Regional Advisor of the New Jersey Chapter, has been accepted to the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA Program for children’s writing and will start in January.

Ruth Pomerance has joined Folio Literary Management as literary and dramatic rights agent. She will build her own client list while adding to Folio’s presence in the feature film, television, theater, and gaming industries.

She was at Hyperion as a senior editor briefly, after a long career focused on developing and acquiring literary projects for film, TV, and theater, working for a number of independent producers as well as The Rockwell Group, USA Films, and the William Morris Agency.

Jeff Alexander will join The Penguin Press as a senior editor on October 29. Previously he was an editor at Vintage/Anchor.

Dan Gerstle will join Basic Books as associate editor on October 21. Previously he was assistant editor at FSG.

Karrie Witkin will join Abrams on October 21 in the newly created role of editorial director, Gift and Paper Products. Previously she was senior editor and publishing manager for Potter Style.

Maria Vicente has joined P.S. Literary Agency as an associate agent. She was
previously an assistant at D4EO Literary Agency.

At Harper Children’s, Melissa Miller has been promoted to editor at Katherine Tegen Books, concentrating on book development.

Nancy Mercado joins Scholastic Press as editorial director. Previously she was executive editor at Roaring Brook Press.

At Harper Children’s, Alyson Day has been promoted to senior editor.

At Blue Rider Press, Jason Booher has been named art director. Previously he was senior designer at Knopf.
