Santa is Coming – I See a Contract in His Sack!

Are you watching for Santa and his reindeers? Looks like he just finished his visit with the Bear family. Hope Santa brings smiles to your face, like he did with this family in Donna Taylor’s delightful painting.

My wish for Donna this year is that she finds more time to paint, illustrate, develop her portfolio and create a web presence.

Literary agent Emmanuelle Morgen will join Stonesong on January 5, representing adult and children’s fiction, including women’s fiction and romance, historical fiction, and young adult fiction, and nonfiction in the areas of psychology, pop science, self-help, and memoir. Morgen has been at Judith Ehrlich Literary Management.

At Viking Children’s, Leila Sales has been promoted to associate editor. I expect big things for Leila.

Congratulations to both.

Merry Christmas,

  1. Merry Christmas to you Kathy!

  2. Merry Christmas, Kathy; here’s a Finnish Squirrel Lullaby I am incorporating into my red squirrel stories.

    Finnish Squirrel Lullaby

On a cold winter’s night, in a forest far away,
Off in the wilds of Finland,
In a nest , high above
A lullaby is sung to a small baby squirrel
Sleeping so sweetly, the baby secure
    Watched by parents who sing,
    “Sleep, our little one.
    Sleep and dream well.
Sleep and just know you’re loved.
    Dream, our little one,
Dream of the acorns you’ll find.
Dream and be peaceful, our baby little squirrel we love.”
And so, on a night, on a cold winter’s night far away
Squirrel folk sing to their baby,
    Their baby so sweetly
Songs of peace, joy and delight.
    Merry Christmas!
