Holly McGhee’s Inspirational Speech

Holly McGhee owner and agent  from Pippin Properties ended the conference on June 5th with an inspirational speech, which touched many of our author’s souls.  In fact, I am told that some were following Holly around like she was a rock star after her talk.  When talking with Holly today, she let me know that Elena Mechlin, agent at Pippin Properties, had video taped her talk.  Thought I would share it with you:

Alvina Ling was promoted to Fiction Editorial Director

Talk tomorrow,

  1. Holly’s speech was so gut wrenching for me, but in a good cathartic way. It’s obvious why she can sustain the identity of both writer and agent successfully.

It was my 2nd time at a big conference. I’m always amazed by how wonderful most of the crowd is at SCBWI – both the members and the “faculty.” They are, like, “real human beings” not just strictly businessmen and have amazing stories to tell!

  2. Holly’s speech was very profound and moving, you could hear a pin drop (sorry for the cliche, but I’m too tired to be creative lol). It was wonderfully inspirational. I know I always enjoy the keynote speakers every year, and this year was no different.

And I second the congratulations to Alvina! 🙂

Btw, the links didn’t work for me 😦

  3. “…you could hear a pin drop…”

Oh, it was a wonderful speech!

  4. Holly McGhee’s speach was truly stunning. I loved it. I wish more people talked about the things she spoke of . . . I’m sharing the link with my yoga/writing students.

    And congrats to Alvina!
