SCBWI Regional Advisor Meeting

On March 17th I flew to Miami to meet with the other SCBWI Regional Advisors from around the country and globe to share ideas on what members want and how we could improve and offer more venues.

I thought you might like to see some of the grueling work that took place.

Friday morning we boarded the Norwegian Sky for our weekend meeting.

Want to point out that Steve’s daughter is working at National Headquarters. She is sitting down on the left and Lin’s to-be daughter-in-law is working at headquarters and she is third from the right. Both are great!

Saturday night we were treated to a super moon.

After meeting and dinner, Karaoke topped off the night.

The water was choppy on the way to the island, but it was fun. Of course, I had the little patch behind my ear. Some people’s stomach might not have thought it as much fun.

What can I say, writers are a creative bunch.

And it comes to an end.

The day before I left I developed an abscessed tooth, so it was touch and go as to whether I was going to be able to attend, but I made it with the help of some good pain medicine.  I guess the stars were watching over me, because the tooth waited to get me problems until Monday on the way home and by Tuesday, my face was so blown up that I didn’t have an eye that you could see.  I did have a purple circle and a face that looked like it was made out of Silly Putty and pulled out of shape.  Thank goodness it didn’t happen on the ship.  If I had been brave enough to leave my room looking like that, all the kids would have been screaming to go home.

Later, I will be sharing some of the new things the SCBWI will be doing in the future.  Hope you don’t feel like I wasted you time with this post.
