On the Premises Current Contest

One or more characters encounter something, someone, or some place for the first time, either by chance or design.

How your character(s) feel about this encounter is up to you. Just remember to make the encounter a central element of the story, not something that happens in the first paragraph and is never mentioned again.

Your challenge: In at least 1,000 but no more than 5,000 words, write a creative, compelling, and well-crafted story that clearly uses the above premise. If you aren’t sure whether your idea fits our premise, you can ask us at Questions@OnThePremises.com.

Deadline: 11:59 PM Eastern Time, Sunday, May 31, 2009.
Entries@OnThePremises.com any time between now and then. Use our template if you like, and remember our weird rules:  http://www.onthepremises.com/current_contest.html
