2010 Charlotte Award Nominee

New York State Reading Association Charlotte Award Committe has nominated
The Orange Shoes
for the NYSRA 2010 Charlotte Award.

The Charlotte Award Committee considers picture books as well as novels for intermediate, and young adult categories.
Award named for the main character in E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web, the purpose of the Charlotte Award is to encourage students to read outstanding literature and ultimately become life-long readers. The award recognizes the authors and illustrators of such literature.

Over 14,000 students are expected to participate in choosing the winner.  Last year’s winner was The Great Fuzz Frenzy written by Janet Stevens http://www.janetstevens.com and Susan Stevens Crummel http://www.susanstevenscrummel.com/, illustrated by Janet Stevens, published by Harcourt.

  1. Ooh, I LOVED this book! The playground girls were so cruel! I don’t want to give too much away, but if you haven’t read it, it’s a winner. (Grab a Kleenex first, though.) And does anybody know how to make cornmeal mush? (I think I accidentally made it once, trying to make cornbread.)
